Student Visa Requirements for Pakistani Students in Germany
Pakistani students planning to study in Germany generally need a National Visa (Type D). The visa application must be supported by the required academic, financial, and personal documentation. AEL can remove guesswork to determine which documents apply to your application and prepare them in the correct sequence.
University Admission
For a standard study visa, applicants generally need proof of admission to a recognised German higher education institution or, where applicable, confirmation of admission to a preparatory programme.
Financial Proof
Applicants must show sufficient funds to cover their living costs in Germany. The German Embassy in Pakistan currently states a blocked-account requirement of €992 per month, or €11,904 per year for students.
Insurance and Language
You need appropriate travel health insurance for your stay. You may also need language proficiency proof, such as IELTS, TOEFL, or recognised German qualifications, depending on your programme and university requirements.
Passport and Supporting Documents
A valid passport and the supporting documents required for your visa application. You also need documents such as the admission letter, proof of financial resources, health insurance certificate, academic transcripts, motivation letter, CV, and biometric photos.
Visa Application
Student visa applications from Pakistan are submitted through the German Consular Services Portal. Applicants can upload their documents through the portal and follow the instructions provided by the German mission.
APS Certificate
For Pakistani students, the APS Certificate is mandatory for the 2027 intake and beyond. It is required for visa appointment booking and university admission. This should be stated clearly, not framed as optional.
