Eligibility & Entry Requirements

Undergraduate
Applicants who wish to enroll in undergraduate courses must have completed accredited secondary school diplomas, foundation studies, or recognised pre-university programmes that meet the academic standards for their chosen degree. Many undergraduate programs also consider previous study or work experience for admission.
Postgraduate
Postgraduate coursework or research program applicants must hold a recognised bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited university. Some courses may also require relevant work experience, a portfolio, or a documented research proposal for admission into research degrees.
English Language
International candidates whose prior education was not delivered in English must demonstrate their English language proficiency through accepted tests such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or other recognised certifications. UNE also offers the English Language Enhancement (ELE) program for students who need to improve their English skills to meet entry requirements or for personal development.
Scholarships & Funding
For international students, UNE provides the International Bursary, which offers a 20% reduction on first-year tuition fees for eligible students commencing in 2026 at the Armidale campus. This bursary is automatically considered with your admission application. The bursary is applied directly to your student account. Additional funding is available through the Destination Australia Cheung Kong Exchange Program, which provides a one-off payment of up to $8,000 for students undertaking exchange between Australia and Asia.
Exchange Programs
UNE’s Learning Abroad program offers students opportunities to study overseas for a semester or full year, gaining cultural insights and global perspectives while earning credit toward their degree. The university provides both Exchange and Study Abroad options. For Exchange (inbound and outbound), you must be enrolled at one of UNE’s partner institutions, have completed at least one year of full-time study (8 units), and maintain good academic standing. Exchange students do not pay tuition fees to UNE—they continue paying fees to their home university while UNE waives tuition costs.
